The Palestinian Center for Growth and Human Development – PCGHD- is defined as an independent, non-governmental, non-profit and Human Rights-oriented organization that is mainly involved in empowering the Palestinian children aged from 5 to 18 years so that they can contribute to shaping their future, and thus the future of Palestine. Towards this end, the center integrates a number of developmental services that target children victims of political violence and violence at family and society settings including school violence, children with special needs and children victims of geographic and economic marginalization, families, women, the decision-making level and the community. These services include psychosocial rehabilitation for children and their families, education and dissemination of information among children on their Human Rights; social inclusion of victimized children and children with special needs; lobbying the decision-making level to adopt and enact new legislations concerning children's rights and raising the awareness of families and the community on these rights.
PCGHD was established in 2002 by a group of graduate and post-graduate volunteers in response to the increasing aggravation in the Human Rights status of Palestinian children at all levels. In the same year, the center was registered officially at the Ministry of Interior under the serial number RA2257-SS.
